How to Add Social Share Buttons to Your WordPress Website

In this tutorial, I will guide you through the process of adding a social sharing plugin to your WordPress blog.

This plugin will allow your readers to easily share your blog posts on their social media accounts, increasing your reach and engagement. Let’s get started!

Step 1: Install and Activate the Plugin

  1. Log in to your WordPress admin dashboard.
  2. Navigate to “Plugins” > “Add New.”
  3. Search for “Social Warfare” and click on the “WordPress Social Sharing Plugin – Social Warfare” by Warfare Plugins.
  4. Click “Install Now” and then “Activate” to activate the plugin.

Step 2: Configure the Plugin Settings

  1. Look for the new plugin option in the dashboard sidebar called “Social Warfare” and click on it.
  2. Select the social networks you want to include as active buttons. You can reorder them as needed.
  3. Decide whether to display share counts and choose between button counts or total counts.
  4. Set the number of decimal places and the separator for the share counts.
  5. Choose the alignment for the share counts.
  6. Configure the position of the share buttons for different areas of your website, such as homepage, archives, categories, and posts. You can also enable floating buttons.
  7. Adjust the style settings to your preference. Use the “Styles” tab to preview and save the changes.
  8. If you enable floating share buttons, specify the floating position and transition effect.
  9. Fill in the social identity details, including your Twitter username, Pinterest username, Facebook page URL, and Facebook app ID.
  10. Explore the advanced features, such as enabling the Gutenberg block and applying a frame buster to prevent content framing (optional).
  11. Click “Save Changes” to apply the settings.

Step 3: Test the Plugin on Your Website

  1. Visit your website’s blog post page.
  2. Scroll down to the bottom of the post or enable floating buttons to see the social sharing icons in action.
  3. Experiment with different positioning options to find the best fit for your design and user experience.
