Connect to Cloudways FTP: How to Access WordPress Files with Cloudways

Follow these steps to access your WordPress files with Cloudways.

Step 1: Create Application Credentials

Inside your Cloudways account, navigate to your application and under “Access Details”, you’ll see “Application Credentials” on the left:

Add a username and password and click “Add”.

You can then click on the IP address, username, and password to copy them, one-by-one.

Step 2: Add Your Server to a FTP Client

Download and install a FTP client like FileZilla and click the icon under the File menu item to add a new server:

Then, click on “New Site” and give it a name:

Copy and paste your IP address, username, and password into the correct fields and select SFTP from the Protocol dropdown.

The Port number is 22.

Click on Connect and you’ll see the root directory of your Cloudways server. Click on “public_html” to see your WordPress files:

Now you can edit your WordPress files like .htaccess, wp-config.php, and access your themes and plugins directories.
